Notice that this processor is an OEM version, meaning that you will have to purchase the cooler and the thermal compound seperately. In terms of performance, this processor can handle most tasks that you throw at it. The only downside of this processor is that it uses a lot of energy and produce a fair amount of heat. |
Good chip with power and heat problem Reviewed by Merdy Utan from South San Francisco, CA on 02/09/06

If you currently own a socket 478 board, this is your second to the last stop. Bear in mind, this chip eats your power supply like BBQ on Superbowl day feast and the temperature hovers around 42-45 degrees idle and 50-53 degrees full load. You will need a decent HSF with at least copper core and an 80mm fan as well as a case with a good airflow to bring fresh air in. Now, as far as performance wise, this 3.2E with build in 1MB cache is not that bad at all. My processor is running at 3.8Ghz solid at stock voltage on air and there are some people who reached the 4Ghz platter easy with the aid of water cooling but it is nice to know that with air cooling, you will achieve at least 3.8Ghz. |

Nice fast processor. The 3.2ghz processor has plenty of power for 3D rendering and graphics work. 1mb cache is perfect for fast response times. Much better than my old P3 600mhz. |

Got an older board and want a little more power? Don't build a whole new system. Upgrade the processor. Nothing lacking here. Big cache (1mb) and great FSB speeds. Good price for an awesome and very stable processor. |
Great Chip Reviewed by Becca from TorC, NM on 02/19/06

At this price range, this is an excellent chip. However, you shoudl jump up to a socket 775 board. The 478's had smaller FSB and don't have some of the newer options.
Great chip though. |
