| The Good:
Arctic Cooling is the best, but you knew that. Or, if you didn't, you hopefully will find out. Every time I build with Arctic, be it fans, VGA coolers, heat pipes, thermal compound, it always comes out beautiful, cool and silent. And, MX-3 is right at the top of my list. Use it sparingly, a little goes a long, long way. I use it on every cpu I install, and the results are impressive. MX-3 is superior to just about everything else out there when it comes to heat transfer. It doesn't get hard and (continued...) |

The price would be the only thing you could say about it. But then, once you add shipping, and taxation, if any, the over-all difference at the bottom line is only a couple of dollars, and you're getting the best. |
| Pro Tip:
Whenever working with thermal compound, keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol handy, and a paper towel. Once thermal grease gets on your fingers, you will leave a silver fingerprint on everything you touch for the next several hours, but it wipes off clean with rubbing alcohol. If you want to adhere a heat sink to a vram chip, remove all traces of the old thermal grease with a Q-tip and alcohol so the sink will stick perfectly to your nice clean chip. |

| The Good:
Artic Cooling is the best brand out there, I have yet to open this pack I found some other that I had from a while back and it is still good. The temperature stays really low if you apply a good layer on the CPU and spread it evenly, set your heatsink or fan and rotate and move in a circle a little to spread the gel evenly then snap it down or lock it in place. I use a AMD 955 Black Edition rated at 60C my CPU runs at 26C-29C with the paste and the Thermaltake Max Orb fan I have on it. The (continued...) |
| The Squirrelly:
Price is slightly too high, and the shipping cost for a small item that barely weighs 1/10 of a pound is extreme. I can ship and entire case for the cost of what they charge for one item.
Not much else to say the item is superior in design, function and purpose and does eveything and more it says it will if you use it properly. |
| Pro Tip:
Putting gel on is like doctoring a wound, apply a thin string around the edges of CPU and zigzag all across the face of it as well, then with a fingertip simply smooth it around until it covers the chip evenly. A layer of at least 1-3 mm is sufficient although I am thinking more like 2 mm. Place your heat sink in or fan and wipe your fingers and you are done! |
